Vibration Monitoring & Assessment

Continuous and short-term ground and structural vibration monitoring — protecting buildings, sensitive equipment, and human comfort during construction, demolition, and industrial operations.

WHAT IT IS

Structural protection and compliance through real-time vibration monitoring

Ground-borne vibration from piling, demolition, heavy traffic, or industrial plant can pose significant risks to structural integrity and cause severe disturbance to nearby occupants or sensitive equipment.

We provide specialized vibration assessments and deploy automated monitoring systems. This enables contractors and site managers to maintain full control, demonstrate regulatory compliance, and prevent costly structural damage claims.

What's included

A complete, defensible monitoring package

Baseline & Continuous Monitoring

Installation of triaxial vibration monitoring equipment to record peak particle velocity (PPV) and vibration dose value (VDV) in real time.

Impact Assessment & Reporting

Expert evaluation against British Standards (BS 7385, BS 5228-2, BS 6472) with clear compliance reports for planning authorities.

How we work

Our assessment process

Risk Evaluation & Thresholds

We review site plans, soil conditions, and nearby structures to establish appropriate Peak Particle Velocity (PPV) threshold limits.

Equipment Installation

Our acoustic consultants securely install and calibrate rugged, weatherproof vibration monitors on-site or directly on building structures.

Real-Time Monitoring & Alerts

Systems measure continuously, automatically notifying your site manager if vibration approaches risk limits so operations can be adjusted.

Compliance Reporting

You receive regular summary reports and a final defensible technical document demonstrating vibration levels against relevant criteria, standards or project-specific limits.

FAQs

Common questions

Which standards do you use to assess structural damage and human response?

We assess risk of cosmetic and structural damage using BS 7385-2 and DIN 4150-3. For human disturbance and comfort in buildings, we assess against BS 6472-1 (Vibration Dose Value – VDV) and BS 5228-2 for construction activities.

Monitoring units track vibration levels against pre-set thresholds (e.g., an Amber warning level set at 80% of the limit). If thresholds are exceeded, designated site staff receive automated email alerts so work can be paused or adjusted.

Can vibration monitoring prevent damage claims from neighbours?

Monitoring provides an objective record of vibration levels which can assist in investigating or responding to complaints and damage claims.

Our monitoring systems are fully self-contained, weatherproof, and powered by long-life internal batteries or solar setups. They can operate continuously for months with zero on-site maintenance required.
